Have you heard of the ’12 days of Christmas’ carol?

But did you know that it may have began as a long poem first? And before that it was an oral history story for children set in or around the late 1700s in England.

Ok, so for this post, we’re simply tagging onto the concept of ‘the 12 days of Christmas’ theme, and bringing it into celebrating,

Since December is the month of giving, what kinds of things can you give this season?

Make giving fit the best way for you as you intertwine holiday traditions.

Start where You are, and include your giving self.

Do 12 days of giving as you see fit for your budget, time and lifestyle. But do it as you can.

Let’s get to giving for the next 12 days.

Your12 Days of Christmas’ Giving List

  1. Read/Listen/Share: ‘The Night Before Christmas’ (1823) — it’s a long poem written in 1822 by Clement Clake Moore as a gift for his children; entitled A Visit from St. Nicholas. His daughter, Mary C. Moore Ogden, an illustrator, painted what she called illuminations for the 1855 color version.
  2. Bake some cookies you’ve always liked to make.
  3. Donate some of your time to help someone you don’t know.
  4. Sing a Christmas carol in the shower or to others.
  5. Binge watch old Christmas movies.
  6. Give an anonymous gift of some sort.
  7. Go by somewhere with Christmas decorations you haven’t seen before.
  8. Make your own Christmas wreath and put it somewhere fun.
  9. Take a new route to work or when you’re out and about, and spot others with Christmas ornaments today. Add one too if you’d like.
  10. Call. Text. Chat or Visit someone you haven’t in awhile.
  11. Give someone a smile or kind gesture today
  12. Say yes today.
